The history of mustard even begins in the sixteenth century, a time when the peasant families of northern Italy prepared it to preserve fruit for longer. The mustard recipe was born with a purely functional purpose, and only later is it prepared to enjoy its very particular flavor, with spicy and sweet notes at the same time. It can be said that there is no table in Northern Italy, during the Christmas holidays, without a dish in which the Mostarda does not accompany boiled meats, roasts or cheeses.
